Last year, we cheered as it crossed the 50 million sales mark, and now, hold on to your red shells because it's hit an even more mind-blowing milestone in just one year! Nintendo's latest quarterly financial report unveiled the staggering news: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has now soared to a whopping 60.58 million sales worldwide since its epic debut back in April 2017 until December 2023.
What's even more thrilling is that our favorite kart racer has clinched the title of the best-selling Switch game ever, leaving its rivals in the dust. Sorry Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey—it looks like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has claimed the gold cup!
Just imagine that in the past year alone, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has burned rubber to the tune of around eight million copies sold. That's right, a staggering eight million!
